Mrs. Mary Johnson Lee was born June 7, 1937, in Elgin, South Carolina to the late Caleb Emmanuel Johnson and Queenie Johnson. She departed this life on Monday, February 20, 2023, at her precious loving home. Mary was educated in the Kershaw County Public School System. She employed with the S. C. Midlands Center for over 30 years, before her retirement. She loved her co-workers at the S. C. Midlands Center. She did not play when it came to her career at the Center. She was a dedicated and devoted member of the Green Hill Baptist Church, in Lugoff, South Carolina. She served in many capacities in the church. Mary served on the Senior Choir and Women’s Ministry. She loved ministry, and she loved the church! She was devoted and faithful to God, even when her health declined. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin, and many other titles. Anything that she had a mind to do, she did it with dedication. She always put her heart and spirit into everything
she did. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Haskell Lee, Sr.; brothers, Lewis Johnson, Henry “Pistol” Johnson, Willie Johnson, Johnny Johnson, Major Johnson, and Leroy Johnson; and sisters, Hattie Mae Gripper and Rosa Lee Lawhorn. Mrs. Mary Johnson Lee is survived by: her daughter, Rose Mary (Joseph) Scott, of Blythewood, South Carolina; four sons, Ronnie (Linda) Lee, Sr., Terry (Wanda) Lee, Both of Columbia, South Carolina, Michael (Gloria) Lee, of Patterson, New Jersey, and Dennis (Sheila) Lee, of Columbia, SC; brothers, Irvin (Brenda) Johnson, of Columbia, South Carolina and Caleb Johnson, of Washington, SC; sisters, Marguerite (Woodrow) Johnson, of Elgin, South Carolina and Alberta (Woodrow) Johnson-Lawhorn, of Washington, DC; a host of special grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives, all of whom will miss her dearly.
